MASH-UP is an independent, offbeat street-wear label inspired by everything from ethnic heritage and pop culture to cinematography. The brainchild of LASALLE College of the Arts fashion graduates Daniela Monasterios Tan, Nathanael Ng and Shaf Amis’aabudin, MASH-UP is a manifestation of our common love for music, partying and fashion.
A mash-up is a fairly new term used in music and it perfectly describes what we are about. We are interested in bringing new meanings to old things, physically and metaphorically. For example, we use old garments that already have their own history and function, and by using “Do-It-Yourself” (DIY) craft techniques like embroidery, we are able to create a new use for them. Nothing is original, everything that exists and has been invented can be mashed up together to create a new story.
MASH-UP has shown at Audi Fashion Festival 2012 and 2013, collaborated with UNIQLO on their FEEL THE S.E.A. UT Collections, were stocked in TOPSHOP Singapore and have done projects with lifestyle companies like LOMOGRAPHY and PIONEER. They're also the creators of the notoriously fun Bash-Up nights at Butter Factory.
